1st annual Edinburgh Mini-cart race

Rules of the Race
Registration:
Teams must be fully registered by October 5th at the latest
Before the race:
Teams must sign in and have their carts ready for inspection at Race HQ by 9:30 am
- Carts will be inspected for soundness of assembly and safety between 9:30 and 10:30 am. Judges will choose the best assembled cart.
- During this time, teams and drivers will be allocated to heats.
- Drivers’ safety equipment will be checked
The race
- Each team may enter their cart, with different drivers, in up to 3 heats (possible more if more have been directly involved in the team effort)
- Carts will race in 4 parallel marked lanes
- The cart finishing first in any heat will be awarded 100 points, second 80 points, third 60 points, fourth 40 points (judges will decide the finishing line places – their decision will be final). Carts failing to complete the course will not be awarded any points.
- In the event of a cart being obstructed by another, the heat will be re-run.
- The positions of the teams at the end of the heats will be decided by the average of the points awarded in the heats in which the team competed.
Order of Events
- The race will start at 10:30 am
- Between the heats and the Final the carts will parade, and judges will select the best decorated cart and the next best.
- The four teams leading the heats will compete in the final race (A semi-final will be run if ties make it impossible to separate the top 4).
- immediately after the Final, prizes will be awarded
- to the teams placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Final
- to the team with the best-assembled cart,
- to the teams with the best and next-best decorated cart
- to the team with the highest Sponsorship total.
