| Why I am running |
|
I initially decided to run the Frankfurt marathon (my second) this
year to fight encroaching middle age. Seemed like a good goal to
strive for 8 years after my first marathon. However, after talking to
my father about his work with Edinburgh Direct Aid and the work he is
doing, I realized that maybe AIDS orphans in Kenya losing their home
was an even better reason to run.
Arise and Shine orphanage and community centre in the small community
of Kogony, Kisumu, Kenya house 21 orphans (many of whom have AIDS
themselves) and help the desperately poor and sick AIDS widows in the
local area. Now that the orphanage is functioning and helping, the
local government is forcing them to move to build a bypass. This will
both cost money and cause a major disruption in an already
impoverished community.
I do hope you will consider a small (or large) donation to help a
truly worthy cause.
Please note that 100% of your sponsorship money will go towards
helping the orphanage.
