Why I am running
I am proud to be running the 2011 Great North Run for Edinburgh Direct Aid and the Christine Witcutt Memorial Fund. Since I first completed this event in 2005, I have received wonderful support from family and friends to raise funds for EDA and other charities each year and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My challenge is to continue to improve on the year before and I hope to set a new personal best of 1hr 36mins in 2011 (better get my training started!). I would ask for your generosity to reach a target of £500 for a wonderful charity that I know well. My own link to Bosnia and Edinburgh Direct Aid came when I spent the summer of 1998 working as an Edinburgh Direct Aid volunteer in a children's hospital in the town of Fojnica. It is now thirteen years since my visit to Bosnia and EDA and the Christine Witcutt Memorial Fund continue to provide much needed support and care for children with special needs in Bosnia. Your generous support for this very worthy cause is much appreciated.
